Athlete of the Month - Jonathon Coates

July 2024

The Athlete of the month, for the month July is.... Jonathan Coates!!

Wow what a month Jonathan has had!

He is the definition of progression and if I keep coaching him right then he’ll be

overtaking me soon.

That’s when I know I have done my job right as a coach, when he starts flying past

me.

Jonathan has gone from strength to strength and has shown impeccable form

recently.

This has come as a result of nothing other than, hard work and consistency.

Always pushing his limits, but at the same time, within reason.

Backing off when the feedback from his body tells him he needs to.

Some of his results of late;

  • Sri Chinmoy Battersea 5k: 15:29 (PB)

  • JP Morgan Corporate Challenge: 17:51 (11 th overall)

  • Great City race 5k: 15:42 (3 rd overall)

Some stella performances in there and the best part is that there is still so much

more to come. No short cuts, nothing crazy, just good, hard, solid, work.

Some of the upcoming races lined up for this talented athlete are;

  • The Big Half

  • PUL 5k at Battersea

  • Valencia marathon

I can’t wait to see how you get along and we are backing you.

Give yourself some Kudos (and a pizza) for an epic month!

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!!

Who will be the athlete of the month for August??

Coach Nick

Quality feature. The mental aspect of recovery is so often overlooked in athletics. After a heavy session at the track, my legs are usually gone. I tend to just chill out on the sofa, maybe scroll through social media or play a few games on slots shine casino to unwind and switch my brain off. But reading about Jonathon's discipline makes me think I need to focus more on my stretching and nutrition if I want to hit my own PBs this year. Congratulations on the win, Jonathon!

The focus needed to compete at this level is intense. Watching a sprint finish is a pure adrenaline rush, honestly way better than the thrill you get from digital entertainment or sites like https://slotsshine-uk.com. Jonathon’s progression over the last year has been brilliant to watch. He is putting the UK athletics scene on notice! I hope he stays injury-free for the rest of the season. Does anyone know what his next major race is targeted for?
